R.E.M. Recording in Canada

Published: 2007-05-28
Initial recording sessions for American rock band R.E.M.'s new album have already begun in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The as-yet-untitled disc will be their 14th full-length, coming up three years since their last one, Around the Sun, in 2004. The group will be working with Grammy Award winning producer Jacknife Lee, who has previously worked with U2, Green Day, Bloc Party and Snow Patrol.

After a few weeks in Vancouver, R.E.M. will finish recording the album in Dublin, Ireland where they will play some of their first live rehearsals of the new material at the end of June and beginning of July. The release for the forthcoming record is currently to-be-determined but R.E.M. is shooting for late 2007.
