Green Day Re-Recording Theme from The Simpsons for Movie

Published: 2007-05-28
American pop punk trio Green Day will redo the famous theme song from the beloved animated series, The Simpsons, just in time for the summer release of The Simpsons Movie this year.

Not only will the band be making an 'appearance' in the highly anticipated feature length cartoon, which is out in theatres on July 27th, but they will also be contributing their own version of the theme a few days before, on July 24th.

Green Day recently contributed to Amnesty International's CD compilation called Instant Karma: The Campaign to Save Darfur with their cover of "Working Class Hero" (released as a single on May 1st). The two-disc set is comprised of all covers of John Lennon songs by contemporary artists and proceeds from the sale of the album (as well as individual downloads of single tracks from the Amnesty International website) will go to raising awareness about the crisis in Darfur.
