The Modern Jazz Rock Sound Of The Slip

Published: 2004-04-12
To the jazz world they are know as rebels without a cause. Ever since the first days of high school, jazz band brothers Brad and Andrew Barr along with Marc Friedman have been out to turn the world of jazz upside down. To band director Mr. Sanborn's dismay the boys were insisting that the Miles Davis song "So What" could be played with drum fills, distorted guitar, and a driving backbeat. The Miles Davis tune was only the beginning. For the past several years The Slip have been entertaining audiences in Japan and North America with their version of rock and jazz.

The Slip spend a great deal of time on the road. After five years of touring and playing about 150 shows a year, the boys in The Slip consider it as one of their greatest accomplishments that they are having "the greatest musical experience yet." The Slip are currently in the middle of a North American tour which will bring them to Quebec and New Brunswick for three shows.

Last November "the Slip released their latest album "Aliveacoustic". The boys are joining the digital age by offering a copy of the CD release party for "Aliveacoustic" in FLAC format from The band and crew from The Slip have also picked out their favourite tunes over the past year and put them into a compilation CD which is also available at Fans who download the compilation CD may also download the special CD art that was created for the CD.
