MuchMusic Video Award Nominations Announced

Published: 2007-05-25
The nominations for the MuchMusic Music Video Awards were announced this week with several Canadian acts snagging multiple nominations this year.

The MMVAs is a Canadian awards ceremony that celebrates and rewards the year's best in music videos and takes place annually in downtown Toronto in early summer. The 2007 edition will air on the music video channel and is set to take place live on June 17th outside the MuchMusic Studios with pre-show coverage at 7:30pm and the actual event happening at 9pm, both in Eastern Standard Time.

With plans for a parade on the red carpet, live performances and of course, many celebrity guests, the gala will be recognizing both Canadian and international artists that have generated a lot of buzz in this last year.
Leading the pack are hard rockers Billy Talent and Nickelback, who have five nominations each as well as k-os and Belly with four nods to their name. Other national notables include Alexisonfire, Feist and Finger Eleven, while global musicians Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani and AFI have also been nominated.

Awards for MuchMoreMusic, MuchLoud and MuchVibe, which are MuchMusic's sister stations, will also be given out during this ceremony, as well as the award for Best French Video and a series of People's Choice categories that fans and viewers can vote for online.

Wow, so many good bands, Billy Talent and Nickelback, among my favorites. (dont really like the MMVAs, way too overblown and way too hyped) but there are some talented artists here. I also believe our own Mrs Lavigne is nominated for peoples choice award for favorite Canadian artist, I voted for her and I hope she wins, shes such a talented performer.
