Madonna Sings for the Environment

Published: 2007-05-15
American pop star Madonna has recorded an original song for the global environmental and musical event known as Live Earth called, "Hey You".

The single will not be released on a commercial scale to radio or television airwaves but will instead be made available for online purchasing with proceeds helping to fund Live Earth.

As a series of concerts taking place across the globe to raise awareness for "a climate in crisis", Live Earth is set to take place on Saturday, July 7, 2007. With seven concerts for each of the world's seven continents (two in Europe, two in Asia, none in Antarctica and one for the rest of the remaining continents), the event hopes to encourage individuals to take action against the mounting environmental dilemma known as global warming.

Madonna will hence be performing at the Wembley Stadium on July 7th for the London show alongside the Foo Fighters, Black Eyed Peas, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and more.

Live Earth is being organized by Save Our Selves (SOS), which was founded by Kevin Wall and counts ex-U.S. Vice President Al Gore, among others, as a major partner.
