Hot Hot Heat Overcome with 'Happiness'

Published: 2007-05-14
Any frequent top 40 radio listener has had "Goodnight Goodnight" by Hot Hot Heat stuck in their head at least once. Well get prepared for more influential tunes as The British Colombia rockers get ready to deliver another album.

This marks the band's fifth record release, baring the title Happiness LTD. The new album has been two years in the making, it follows up 200's Elevator. Frontman, Steve Bays spoke about the work on the new album to Spin, "We wanted this record to be written on the road partly so the influences would be more varied, but also so we could test out the songs live before we recorded them. We wrote music everywhereóSpain, Japan, Australia, The U.K.óso each song has a different mood."

The band chose their backing team carefully, songwriter Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance), producer Butch Walker (Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects) and mixer extraordinaire Tim Palmer (U2, David Bowie, The Cure). And when choosing two words to describe the album Bays chose wisely again, "aggressive and big".

Happiness LTD hits stores September 11th.
