Published: 2007-05-10
North American and European artists aren't the only ones calling for attention and aid for the crisis in Darfur; musicians and activists from the continent of Sudan itself are also joining hands in an effort to augment global consciousness about the nation's situation.

Youssou N'Dour is a singer from Senegal who believes strongly in the ability of the people to make change possible and as such, is making the first step in uniting his fellow African artists in bringing an end to the civil war.

N'Dour is not only renowned in African history because of his music but also for his extreme passion and dedication to social and political causes. He is one of Time Magazine's top 100 most influential people, having worked with organizations such as UNICEF, Amnesty International and the United Nations.
