Grammy's 50th Anniversary Already Being Planned

Published: 2007-05-09
It is nine months before the 50th edition of the music industry's most important and esteemed awards ceremony is to take place and already the organizers are planning some of the festivities, activities and events that will surround it.

For instance, a Grammy museum, fashion line and book are in the works in order to commemorate this special anniversary as well as everything that has led up to the date, which is going to be Sunday, February 10th, 2008.

As it has been for the last few years, next year's Grammys will be held at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California on the American broadcasting network CBS, which may also be airing television specials later this year leading up to the event.

The museum, currently under construction, will be right beside the Staples Centre inside a neighbouring entertainment complex that should be open in September 2008. On the other hand, the fashion line will see the light of the day this Fall and will include both clothing and accessories. The Recording Academy, which organizes the Grammys, will use a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the Grammy fashion line to help fund charitable ventures that have to do with music. The coffee-table book will mainly be comprised of photos and will hit stores shelves in October 2008.
