Elliott Smithís 'New Moon' in Stores Today

Independent record label Kill Rock Stars is releasing a new 2-disc Elliott Smith CD in stores today, Tuesday, May 8th.

Entitled New Moon, the record is composed, for the most part, of songs that have never been publicly made available, but were written and recorded during the late Smith's time as part of Kill Rock Stars' roster during 1994-1997.

Now over three and half years since his death in October 2003, Kill Rock Stars hopes that fans of Smith will still be interested in owning such rarities that come from a period of time that personal friend and New Moon engineer Larry Crane claims was one of singer-songwriter's most prolific.

Smith played all the instruments himself on the twenty-four tracks included on the album and also self-recorded a majority of them.

In November, a photo book by Autumn De Wilde compiling both press and live shots of the artist, called simply Elliott Smith will be released by Chronicle Books.

With rare interviews with close friends and family, handwritten lyric samples and a live acoustic CD packaged with the 200-page volume, fans will have a great Smith keepsake to add to their collections.

What's even better is that the photo book is all for a good cause: some of the book's proceeds will go to various charitable foundations as selected by Chronicle Books.
