Wilco Release 'Sky Blue Sky', Play Toronto

Published: 2007-05-08
As Wilco get ready to send another album into to the world they turn back to traditional rock and roll. Sky Blue Sky will be ready for your MP3 player over the summer with its May 15th release date in North America.

The recording of the album took place in Chicago with a handful of new equipment which was updated by vocalist Jeff Tweedy minus the walls that weren't updated or sound proofed. Guitarist Nels Cline talked about that obstacle to NME, "I often wonder if you listen to the album closely if you can hear traffic going by because there was no soundproofing."

The new release is the follow up to 2005's Kicking Television: Live in Chicago; it will carry a new outlook for Wilco fans, "People are used to hearing a lot of imploding angst from Jeff, but a lot of these songs are love songs to his wife. I think it's also about not collapsing under the weight of one's own psyche."

To check out the new positive outlook of the band you'll have to wait till next week, May 15th. Canadians can also catch Wilco when they play a one off show on June 30 at Massey Hall in Toronto.
