Paul McCartney Wins Classical Award

On May 3rd, Sir Paul McCartney won the award for Best Album of the Year at the Classical Brit Awards for Ecce Cor Meum.

The 64-year-old ex-Beatles member toiled for ten years on the making of this record, which was inspired by his late first wife, Linda. Though it was dedicated to his soon-to-be ex-wife, Heather Mills, the album is a sad but uplifting look at the time in his life when he was coping with Linda's breast cancer and her subsequent death from the disease.

Ecce Cor Meum (Latin for Behold My Heart) was a cathartic experience for McCartney that he describes as a "labour of love". Next month, McCartney will be releasing another emotionally charged album called Memory Almost Full, in which he reminisces about the life he's led, at times, mirroring the times and songs he's had with The Beatles.
