Metric Tour Canada, Begin Recording

Published: 2007-05-02
Canada's indie darlings are prepared to bust out once again. Metric have announced that they are in the processes of recording their new album.

Songstress Emil Haines told NME.com that the work on the album is taking place in Toronto at a studio she purchased with some buds. The studio belongs to guitarist James Shaw as well Sebastian Grainger from fellow Canadian band Death From Above 1979.

Haines also spoke about the progress, "We just got this amazing space and the first recording and writing sessions for Metric are in there right now. We've written about 15 songs. We're starting to hone in and choose some of our favourites."

The band does have a couple of Canadian shows lined up but the new album won't see the shelves until next year. Next summer perhaps, "It'll be a summer album, regardless of when it's released. It definitely will have a summer atmosphere."

To get that summer feeling check out Metric on the following Canadian dates:

May 14-16, Edmonton, AB - The Starlite
May 17, Calgary, AB - The Whisky
May 19, Victoria, BC - The Central Victoria Curling Club
May 21, Vancouver, BC - Virgin Festival, Thunderbird Stadium
September 9, Toronto, ON - Virgin Festival, Toronto Island
