An auction held on Saturday netted some pretty big sums donated by some pretty big names. U2's Bono and The Edge each contributed. The Edge's Gibson Les Paul scored $240,000 for the musicians who lost it all in Hurricane Katrina, while Bono's sunglasses fetched a cool $20,000.

Julien's Auctions held the big buy off at New York's Hard Rock Cafe and the event totalled $2,436,900, with a 20 percent buyer's fee for Music Rising, a charity set up by The Edge as well as other musicians in the wake of the 2005 hurricane.

Over 200 items were sold to benefit the charity including some coveted rarities like Jimi Hendrix's 1966 Red Fender Mustang guitar ($400,000) and John Lennon's signature blue-tinted and round framed shades($30,000).
