Smashing Pumpkins reunion 'not a fit' for James Iha

Published: 2007-04-10
The Smashing Pumpkins reunion has been a long one in the making. Lead singer Billy Corgan spoke several times of a reunion but the rest of the band denied it. Finally as the New Year rolled around an official reunion was announced. Only to find out now that guitarist, James Iha will not be involved.

The Pumpkins have dates scheduled for spring and summer and this does not fit well with Iha's schedule. He has much on the go, such as work on his solo album and upholding his indie record label. He spoke to Rolling Stone, "No, I'm not part of the current Smashing Pumpkins album or tour, I haven't spoken to Bill Corgan in years."

So an updated band member list for the reunion looks like the following, lead singer Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain.

It was NEVER announced or portrayed as a REUNION. People have unrealistic expectations and poor vocabularies. This is, in this fan's opinion, about new music that can be as Pumpkiny as it wants. This isn't about some 3rd-act-of-a-reality show emotional curtain-call. What's really important here?
