The New Pornographers Quiet Down with 'Challenger'

Published: 2007-04-09
The New Pornographers will be releasing their fourth full length studio album titled Challenger this August distributed by Matador.

A band has to change over four studio records. The once folk-pop driven band has managed to grow, "It's much quieter then it ever has been, to the point that there are actually songs that don't really have any drums", songwriter Carl Newman told Pitchfork. Not only will the sound difference be quieter there is an array of new instruments back lining the songs as well, "There's a little more instrumentation that we've really tried having before. We brought in a string quartet, and there's actually flute on it, there's going to be a little bit of trumpet."

The album has not yet been finalized, but expect to see the following tracks listed:

All These Things That Go to Make Heaven and Earth
Go Places
All the Old Showstoppers
Myriad Harbor
Entering White Cecilia
The Spirit of Giving
