John Lennon Piano Goes on 'Peace Tour'

Published: 2007-04-04
George Michael is now the guardian of John Lennon's cherished piano where he wrote the famed classic "Imagine" for a Peace Tour that will visit landmarks of tragedy and pay tribute to those who lost their lives.

The first stop on the Peace Tour was in Dallas, Texas at Grassy Knoll, the location of John F. Kennedy's assassination. The next stop for the Lennon piano is another assassination stomping ground, that of Martin Luther King in 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. Piano owner, George Michael, spoke about the tour to NME, "The selection of the site evokes a deep sense of emotion for everyone. Capturing the image of this special piano which a song of peace was composed is part of the heartbeat of this project."

Proceeds go to charity, including a picture book of the events and a documentary.
