Juno Awards Announce Final TV Schedule

Published: 2007-03-29
This year's Juno Awards are happening this Sunday April 1 in Saskatoon, SK, but there has been much debate about when they are to air on CTV because of the popular CBS reality series Amazing Race airing a 2 hour episode. Record labels and artists alike have expressed their wish for the more favourable time slot of 7-9pm, citing that anything less means that the Junos and the artists who are taking part were being treated as second-rate. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) chair Stephen Stohn said, "we reacted immediatelyÖsaying no, Canadian music is No. 1."

CTV has now officially agreed that the show will now air live at 7pm in Ontario and Quebec, and in Atlantic Canada at 8pm The show will also be seen live in Saskatchewan, airing at 5pm local time with a repeat broadcasting at 9pm. The only delay will be in the rest of the country, with BC and Manitoba airing the Junos at 9pm and Alberta at 7pm.

The Junos gala is hosted by Nelly Furtado and will have performances by Alexisonfire, k-os, the Tragically Hip and Gregory Charles.
