Bonnaroo Backers Invest in Fests Future

Published: 2007-03-28
Bonnaroo promoters, AC Entertainment and Superfly Presents, have purchased the 530 acre farm where the festival takes place.

The companies bought the land from owner Sam McAllister for $8.6 million according to Reuters, "The investment would seem a good one. Bonnaroo grossed more than $14.7 million last year from ticket sales alone, with money from sponsorships, concessions, and other ancillaries sweetening the pot considerably."

The piece of land in Nashville Tennessee has been home to the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival since 2002. Featuring mostly jam bands, the festival has hosted bands from many genres and in years past has seen Neil Young, James Brown, The Allman Brothers Band, Bob Dylan, The Dave Mathews Band, Wilco, Radiohead, Tom Petty, Buddy Guy and many more.

This year's festival will feature the newly reunited Police, Tool, The White Stripes and Ben Harper to name a few and will take place from June 14-17.
