Hilary Duff to Play Pop Star, Again

Published: 2007-03-20
Hilary Duff is slowly being typecast into roles that ask her to sing or take the role as a pop star. Duff is growing up and has made a firm decision that she will try and transcend into more mature films leaving the "pop star role" alone. Then she got the script for War, Inc

At the time, when Duff received the call from her agent about this new script she had no intention on working on a film. She was busy with her new album Dignity and promoting her movie Material Girls which also starred her sister Haylie Duff. Duff was further put off by the script when she heard they wanted her to play a pop star.

However, after being convinced to read the script she loved it. Duff describes the movie as, "÷off the wall and nuts and really smart and controversial and really proves the point. And I was so excited about it, like 'Gosh can I do this? I don't know if I can do this'. Because you know what, when people won't take a chance on you, you have like no confidence."

The little boost of confidence that Duff needed came from the man who wrote the script himself, John Cusack. He talked to Duff explaining that he wrote the character of Yonica with her in mind. Duff then realized that she had to do it, so she took off to Bulgaria to start filming.
