LL Cool J cleared up some of his issues Monday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! He is preparing to make his last album with Def Jam, marking his 13th with the label.
LL has been a long time member of the Def Jam label, but after fellow rapper Jay-Z took the reigns as President of Def Jam things changed for LL. He has been known to feel as though his latest albums were not a priority on the list of works to promote under the Def Jam name.
It has been said that he is leaving due to Jay, and LL told Jimmy, "I wouldn't go that far with it, but for the most part I'm gone." He also praised Jay-Z in a sense, saying that as a rapper he is his competition so why would he resign a deal with someone who he'll be challenging with in the game.
When it comes down to it all LL is just ready to start something new, "My contract is up and it's time to move on."
