REM To Record New Album

Published: 2007-03-13
Already on to their 14th studio album, the boys of REM are ready to give it there all. This time around they've hired Jacknife Lee, who's worked with Bloc Party and Snow Patrol. It can't hurt that the man has a Grammy under his belt as well.

The newest release will be a follow-up to 2004's Around the Sun. The band is hopeful that it will be released by the end of the year. The band took a new direction with the recording of the new disc. After having recorded their last three albums with producer Pat McCarthy this time they have decided against him.

Lee is excited about the bands new direction, "REM is consistently one of the great bands, if not the greatest. The new songs they've written are some of their most exciting and visceral yet. They're a beacon for any band wishing to remain honest and challenging.

Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam will be inducting REM into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame March 12th.
