American Idol has decided against "only" being a television show and is ready to give back. On the results show for the top 12, Idol made an announcement stating that they will be giving back to their own communities that were stricken by natural disasters and as well will send aid to Africa.

The new campaign is titled Idol Gives Back and the special event will take place on April 24 and 25. The show will be jam packed with celebrities, everybody trying to do their part. You'll be able to see faces such as, Gwen Stefani, Pink, Borat, Il Divo, and Michael Buble.

The first night will start with Coke and AT & T putting money towards every vote that is made. And the second night will be America's turn to give back. The money raised will be split among various organizations; U.S. Fund, UNICEF, the Global Fund, Save the Children, Nothing but Nets and Malaria No More.

Known humanitarian Bono commented on the effort; "We'll see worlds collide when Africa appears on America's most watched TV Show. This is a big deal, a little bit of pop historyÖ I wouldn't underestimate the reach of this show or the impact its audience can have."
