Rihanna Changes It Up

Published: 2007-02-28
Rihanna has in mind what she wants her newest tracks to sound like.

"I want to keep people dancing but still be soulful at the same time," the singer told MTV. To create this sound she turned to Ne-Yo for help. Of the man who she also collaborated with on "Unfaithful" Rihanna says, "He is a genius."

Ne-Yo is working in the studio with Rihanna as she belts out her newest bunch of hits. The singer-songwriter is there to coach her with her vocals, as Rihanna has never had the experience of working with a vocal coach. The pair are also writing together.

Rihanna is excited to be working with Ne-Yo and said of his writing skills, "I read through the lyrics, and I'm like, what are you thinking? What is going through your head? I just have to stop sometimes and be like, Ne-Yo, ok tell me why you wrote this song. Because I don't understand how he comes up with certain concepts and he just blows me away sometimes. He's just insane."

For her newest album Rihanna turned to more people then just Ne-Yo. Also helping on the disc are Stargate (Beyonce), Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken (Kelly Clarkson) and Sean Garrett. This time around she is even whipping out the big guns like Timbaland and Will.I.Am. She also expresses an interest in working with Polow Da Don (Pussycat Dolls) and one half of Outkast, Andre 3000.

Rihanna is recording a large chunk of the new album in Los Angeles. There is no release date as of yet.

Can't stand her whiny voice and don't understand how anyone can stand listening to her, gives me a headache....but she looks great!
