Danger Mouse Sticks With Gnarls Barkley and More

Published: 2007-02-26
Danger Mouse, being the successful producer that he is, gets the opportunity to work with many artists. His success of 2006 was certainly due to Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" and the Gorillaz's come back hit "Feel Good Inc."

With all his passion and success, Danger picks his projects with care.

"I have always been focused on the projects I want to do, and I work with the people that I want to get those things done," said Danger on his choosing process. He is not, however a big talker when it comes to up and coming collaborations.

Up and coming projects include work with Mark Linkous from the group Sparklehorse. Their working name as of now is Dangerhorse. Spreading into all genres, Danger is also working with Daniele Lupi, a soundtrack composer hailing from Italy. Lupi produced the debut album of the Good, the Bad & the Queen, a group that consists of already acclaimed musicians Daman Albarn of Blur/Gorillaz, Paul Simonon of the Clash, Simon Tong of the Verve and Tony Allen of Africa 70. Danger is proud of his work with the super band.

"I love that record. I still listen to it, and I don't usually listen to records that I produced or anything like that. Damon is probably my favorite songwriter right now and definitely the person I learned the most from musically, I'm just really happy to have been part of it."

But since Gnarls Barkley is a Grammy award winning band, Danger will continue on with Cee-Lo, the other half of the duo As their schedules dwindle down, they are beginning to work on their follow-up. Without revealing much, Cee-Lo spoke of the possibilities for the new album.

"We already have five or six new songs, so the new record is off to a good start and we'll see where it goes. It's not a totally different direction. I'm going back and redoing some things I didn't get a chance to complete so it's definitely a continuation."
