Damien Rice Takes ë9í on the Road

Published: 2007-02-26
Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice is readying a trek behind his 2006 release 9.

In 2003 Rice released his debut album O to heaps of critical acclaim, taking home the Shortlist Music Prize that year. His new record 9 has received mixed critical reviews.

Though he hasn't charted particularly high or received massive amounts of radio airplay, you've probably heard Rice's tunes played on some of your favourite television shows, showing up on everything from Dawson's Creek to Lost, House, ER and CSI:NY. Last week his tune "Sleep Don't Weep" appeared on Grey's Anatomy.

But much of his exposure, like most artists, comes from touring. He'll be heading on the road with band members Lisa Hannigan on vocals, guitar and bass, Vyvienne Long on cello, Tom Osander on percussion and Shane Fitzsimons on bass. You can catch them in Canada on these days:

April 24, Vancouver, BC - Centre for the Arts
May 18, Toronto, ON - Massey Hall
May 20, Montreal, QC - Olympia
