Chris Cornell No Longer an Audioslave

Published: 2007-02-19
Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has decided to make his exit from the alt-rock band.

In a statement made by Cornell on February 15 he announced, "Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors."

The alt-rock supergroup came together in 2001 and consisted of Cornell and Rage Against the Machine members Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk. The band released three records, the most recent being 2006's Revelations, all of which hit the American Billboard top ten.

Earlier this year it was confirmed that members of Rage Against the Machine were reuniting for a show at the Coachella Music Festival this spring, no word on whether this will be the band's only appearance or if they will pursue more music endeavors together in the future.

Cornell is set to release his second solo album Carry On which will hit stores on May 1.
