The Killers, Arctic Monkeys Win Big at Brit Awards

Just days after the Grammy awards announced the best in American music overseas the Brit Awards have touted the best British bands.

Indie rock superstars the Arctic Monkeys took home two awards, Best British Group and Best British Album for their debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not that became the fastest selling debut album in Britain ever this year.

American alt-rockers the Killers also had double honours taking best International Group and International Album for Sam's Town.

Other big winners include singer-songwriter James Morrison as best British Male Solo Artist and jazz soul singer songwriter Amy Winehouse as best British Female Solo Artist. Reunited boy band Take That took home the Best British Single award for their tune "Patience". Former boy bander Justin Timberlake took the honours for Best International Male Solo Artist while Canadian singer songwriter Nelly Furtado took home the award for best International Female Solo Artist.
