Mandy Moore Goes Back to Music

Published: 2007-02-12
Although she is probably best known for her acting roles in films like A Walk to Remember, Saved! and American Dreamz, a few folks can remember that Mandy Moore began her career in the music business.

In 1999 at the tender age of 15 Moore began her career with the sweet pop tune "Candy" and though it gained her some moderate success she couldn't compete with the massive successes of other pop stars like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

So instead Moore turned to film taking parts in movies like A Walk to Remember and most recently Because I Said So, also starring Diane Keaton and Lauren Graham. Throughout her film career she continued to release albums including the 2003 record Coverage with Moore covering some of her favourite tunes.

Now she has decided to return to music, with a new record label she is ready to go back to singing and will try her hand at songwriting for the first time. But she won't be going at the writing process alone getting help from indie pop folk band the Weepies, singer-songwriter Rachel Yamagata, folk singer Lori McKenna and Canadian songstress Chantal Kreviazuk.

The record Wild Hope is set to hit stores on May 8 but you can sample some new Mandy material on her official MySpace page like "Extraordinary" which is set to show up on the new record and "Nothing That You Are" which isn't mentioned in the new album track list.

Here are the other songs set for the record:

"All Good Things"
"Slummin' In Paradise"
"Most of Me"
"Looking Forward to Looking Back"
"Few Days Down"
"Nothing That You Are"
"Wild Hope"
"Latest Mistake"
"Can't You Just Adore Her"
"Ladies Choice"
