Kelly Clarkson enlists the help of a Punk

Published: 2007-01-09
Kelly Clarkson has long ago surpassed her idol fame and for her new album she will prove just that.

For the recording of her third album Kelly enlisted the help of an old time punk veteran, Mike Watt. Mike Watt co-founded the band Minutemen in the 70's and a decade later would create the band Firehose. After all these years he still keeps himself busy by working with Iggy Pop and the reunited Stooges.

Being the punk that he is, Watt had never even heard of Kelly Clarkson or American Idol, the show that made her famous. He was a little doubtful about the collaboration but was soon to find out he had made the right decision in recording six tracks for the disc. Happy he gave Kelly a chance Watt said, "I was really impressed how she sang. It was intense. I'm really glad I had the experience-it was trippy and everyone gave me much respect.

The record should be a hit with the aid of Watt and mega producer David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, Stevie Nicks).
