Rod Stewart Named Commander of the Order of the British Empire

Rod Stewart was named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire on Monday in the Queen's New Year's Honours list. The honourees are chosen by the British Prime Minister and the list is announced by Buckingham Palace. Stewart along with his fellow honourees were given a medal and will be allowed to use the CBE initials after their name. Other rockers with the title include guitarist and singer Eric Clapton and Brian May, who is the guitarist for Queen.

The Order of the British Empire was established by King George V in 1917.
