James Brown Biopic to be Made

Published: 2006-12-29
On Wednesday December 27, Spike Lee officially announced that he will be the director of the James Brown biopic. Brian Grazer is also involved in production through Imagine Films and Paramount Pictures.

Before the death of legendary funk father James Brown, there had been a movie in the works. With his passing everything is getting pushed up and the rush is on to commemorate Brown; production should begin late 2007. Nancy Kirkpatrick of Paramount Pictures commented "It's an authorized biography done with the cooperation of Mr. Brown before his passing."

There have been some speculations about who will be cast to play the lead man himself. Singer/actor Usher has been performing in the London production of Chicago, he seems to be the front runner. Also interested in the project is Fergie, to possibly play one of Brown's wives.

I am so surprized that there has not been any formal appraisal of James Browns work on televeision since his passing.

I wanna see some James, and the networks he made so much money for better get down with something quick that will satisfy people until his biopic is ready.

This was the greatest Soul, R&B performer EVER - I cannot believe that the tube is not full of him right now and I want that changed quickly.
