Canadian Idol hopefuls will get a new way to shine or completely embarrass themselves on national television.
CTV just announced that hopefuls for the fifth season of Canadian Idol will be allowed to play instruments during their audition. According to The Star, executive producer John Brunton said in a statement, "Canadian Idol remains a vocal competition, but we're hoping this new element brings out people who may have never considered auditioning before."
The new idol will have to audition at one of the upcoming open calls in cities across the country beginning January 27.
