John Mayer Releases ëVillage Sessionsí

Published: 2006-12-13
Singer-songwriter John Mayer has released a limited edition acoustic EP of some of the songs from his new album Continuum.

Earlier this week Mayer was nominated for five Grammy awardsóthree for his work on Continuum, one for his cover of "Route 66" for the Disney movie Cars and one for his work as a part of the blues rock group the John Mayer Trio.

The Village Sessions was released yesterday (December 12) and contains acoustic versions of five of the tunes from Continuum. Harkening back to his first album Room for Squares, the EP has a more stripped down feel.

The disc also includes an alternate version of his first single "Waiting on the World to Change," featuring fellow singer-songwriter Ben Harper, who collaborated with Mayer on the tune "Belief" off of Continuum.

The disc will only be available at independent music stores, a list of which can be found on his official website. Here are the tunes that get the acoustic treatment on The Village Sessions:

"Waiting on the World to Change" (featuring Ben Harper)
"Belief"
"Slow Dancing in a Burning Room"
"Good Love is on the Way"
"I'm Gonna Find Another You"
"In Repair"

you can hear some of these acoustic versions at small sets he's done earlier in the year prior to the release to Continuum on youtube. I love the fact that he has grown so much as a musician and is finally incorporating those fenders of his into his songs, especially for his live shows now, he really gets into his solo's etc, but itís cool that he's treating us to this acoustic ep. and itís pretty awesome he's only selling them the indie route..it really shows how he only cares about the money (sarcasm)
