Neil Diamond Teams Up With Rick Rubin

Published: 2006-12-12
Legendary singer-songwriter Neil Diamond has reunited with producer Rick Rubin for his next album.

Rubin told Billboard that the pair had already started recording a few cover songs to get warmed up. But that doesn't mean the album will end up as a cover album. Rubin told the music magazine that it was still too early to tell.

The announcement comes on the heels of the re-release of Diamond's latest album and collaboration with Rubin, 12 Songs. The reissued edition features a second disc of bonus tracks, unreleased demos and alternate takes.

Released in 2005 12 Songs received a lot of praise from critics, some claiming it to be one of Diamond's best. The album had to be pulled after the Sony BMG rootkit fiasco, when the record company coded the record with harmful anti-piracy software.

After suffering from depression from the scandal, Diamond is back in the studio. The double disc edition of 12 Songs comes out today.
