Olivia Newton-John Wants a Piece of Grease

Published: 2006-12-07
Aussie singer Olivia Newton-John is suing Universal Music Group for $1 million in royalties that she claims she's owed for sales from the Grease soundtrack.

John starred as Sandy in the big screen adaptation of the long running musical. Though in subsequent years she has put out hits like "Physical" and "Magic," many still know her as the innocent girl who fell in love with Danny Zuko, AKA John Travolta.

According to E!Online, John says she was paid some money just not all of it. "Newton-John and Universal hammered out how much money she was supposed to get for each album sold in 1978. The deal was later modified in 1979, 1980 and 2000 to cover tapes and compact discs. Court papers state that a recent audit showed Universal has failed to pay, or explain why it has failed to pay, $1 million."

Universal claims that the lawsuit is "without merit."
