Coldplay Play New Tunes in Latin America

Published: 2006-12-04
Coldplay is taking their act to Latin America to show off some of the new tunes they have in the works.

Frontman Chris Martin started showing off some of the band's new stuff at an unplanned appearance at a benefit for UK charity Mencap that helps people in the UK with learning disabilities. Martin played a couple covers of the Band's "I Shall Be Released," the Killers "When You Were Young" and Bob Dylan's "Buckets of Rain." He also previewed the tune "Bucket For A Crown," which the official website describes as "a new work in progress."

It seems that "Bucket For a Crown" isn't the only thing the band has in the works as they will embark on a Latin American tour in the New Year. Playing smaller venues than they did on their Twisted Logic tour their website says, "The band are currently writing material for their fourth album and are keen to play some intimate shows to try out their new songs. Having received such a phenomenal response to their last latin American trip in September 2003, they personally chose to return to the region."

The band will play multiple dates in February in Santiago, Chile, Buenos Aires, Argentina, San Paulo, Brazil and one date in Mexico City in March.
