Nelly Furtado Supports Land Conservancy in Magazine Ad

Published: 2006-11-28
Nelly Furtado is giving a boost to a non-profit conservation organization through a jewelry ad in Vanity Fair magazine.

The four-page ad, for jewelry chain Bailey Banks and Biddle, features the singer-songwriter along with a mention of the Land Conservancy on the first page. The group works to protect natural and historical habitats throughout British Columbia.

Furtado, a B.C. native herself, has been involved with the group for a few years. She also donated all of the money she made from the ad to the organization.

The Land Conservancy first contacted Furtado when they discovered her interest in the Sooke Potholes, a place she used to enjoy as a child. The singer has been involved in the campaign to protect and promote the area ever since.

You can catch the Canadian star in concert when she takes her latest album, Loose across Canada next spring.
