Jann Arden Wins Big at Canada's SOCAN Awards

Juno award winning singer Jann Arden received songwriting honours at the SOCAN Awards last night in Toronto.

SOCAN, or the Society of Composers Authors and Music Publishers of Canada, recognizes the best in Canadian songwriters, composers, lyricists and music publishers annually with their awards gala.

According to the Canadian Press, Arden was honoured for six of her songs that "hit the 100,000-airplay mark on Canadian radio last year." Arden's songs were among 11 other hits recognized for the achievement.

In addition, the singer-songwriter also received a National Achievement Award.

Hosted by country artist Jason McCoy, the awards also recognized Canadian talents Michael BublÈ, Nickelback, Chantal Kreviazuk, Sum 41, Finger Eleven, Nick Gilder and many others.
