Triumph Enters Canadian Music Hall of Fame

Published: 2006-11-22
Triumph, the Canadian hard rock group that rose to fame in the 70s and 80s, is joining producer David Foster in the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame.

Rik Emmett, Gil Moore and Mike Levine came together to form Triumph in 1975 and released their self-titled debut the following year. With their first couple of albums, the Toronto trio gained popularity in their home country as well as a following in Texas.

The band followed up with a succession of albums that went gold and platinum and provided hits in the U.S. and the U.K.

Triumph released nine albums together before Emmett left to purse a solo career in 1989. With Emmett's departure, Triumph enlisted Phil X and released Edge of Excess in 1993.

The original members will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on March 10 at Toronto's Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
