Me First and the Gimmes Gimmes Hit the Road

Published: 2006-11-21
Punk band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are taking their latest album of diverse covers to some North American cities.

On Love Their Country, released October 17, the five-piece band bring their own brand of punk to some country classics. This time around, the band tackles everyone from the Dixie Chicks, to Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton to Johnny Cash.

The members of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes all pull double duty for other notable bands. Vocalist Spike Slawson plays bass for the Swingin' Utters, guitarist Chris Shiflett (also known as Jake Jackson) belongs to the Foo Fighters, bassist "Fat" Mike Burkett is NOFX frontman while drummer Dave Raun and guitarist Joey Cape are Lagwagon members.

The guys kick off their tour at B.B. King's in New York on November 26, hitting Boston, Chicago and Las Vegas along the way. They are stopping in on a couple of Canadian cities:

Nov. 29 - Montreal, QC - Metropolis
Nov 30 - Toronto, ON - Phoenix Concert Theatre
