Mandy Moore Returns to Music

Published: 2006-11-20
Pop singer Mandy Moore has returned to the recording studio after stepping away to pursue a career on the big screen.

Moore has contributed to a string of movies over the past few years including a starring role alongside British actor Hugh Grant for 2006's American Idol parody American Dreamz. In the past year alone, the 22-year-old has worked on five films.

With her return to music, Moore teamed up with Chantal Kreviazuk, Rachael Yamagata, the Weepies and Lori McKenna to pen some new tunes. For the first time, Moore can claim writing or co-writing credits for every song on the upcoming album.

Moore told Billboard, "I'm so excited to be back and making music. It's my first love. I've been really concentrating on movies for the last couple of years and the opportunities keep coming in, but I kind of believe everything happens for a reason. It's time to do this."

The album is slated for an April release.
