Alicia Keys and David Bowie Team Up to 'Keep a Child Alive'

Published: 2006-11-13
Alicia Keys and David Bowie joined other celebrities in New York at the black tie benefit for Keep a Child Alive, an organization that helps children, families and orphans living with AIDS in Africa and the developing world.

Being the ambassador for the organization, Keys used her musical talents during the evening, covering Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart," Mr. Mister's "Broken Wings" and Bob Marley's "War." She also performed duets with Kidjo and Damien Marley.

Bowie sang "Wild Is The Wind" and "Fantastic Voyage" before singing a duet with Keys. The pair closed the night by singing Bowie's classic "Changes."

Keys has also teamed up with Bono as part of her work with Keep a Child Alive. Last year, the two singers recorded the duet "Don't Give Up (Africa)" with all proceeds going to the organization's efforts.

AIDS has already claimed the lives of over 25 million people, since the epidemic began.
