Maren Ord Gets Acoustic with 'Pretty Things'

Published: 2006-11-07
Canadian singer-songwriter Maren Ord has stripped down her sound and gone acoustic for her third album.

The 25-year-old shifted from her previous pop/rock sounds and decided to try a more simple approach. To get in touch with her softer side, Ord departed to a mountain town in Utah. The result is Pretty Things, which the Edmonton native wrote, recorded and produced herself.

"I'm really proud of this album because it's the first time I've really been in the driver's seat for the whole experience," she said. "The label, my manager, everyone just left me alone and let me do my thing."

The acoustic album is the follow-up to 2004's Not Today, where Ord had the chance to team up with Canadian rock legend Randy Bachman.

Pretty Things hits store shelves November 21 and is already available at iTunes.
