Rob Thomas to Perform at Music Has Power Awards

Rob Thomas is showing the healing power of music by playing at the Music Has Power Awards.

Put on by The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function, the awards show honours those who have created awareness around the power of music to "awaken and heal."

This year the Institute, which is a member of the Beth Abraham Family of Health Services, will pay special tribute to neurologist and author, Dr. Oliver Sacks.

"We celebrate his 40 years at Beth Abraham and honour his outstanding contributions in support of music therapy and the effect of music on the human brain and mind," said the Insitute's Executive Director Dr. Concetta Tomaino.

Thomas will be joined by Jourdan Urbach, a 14-year-old violin prodigy.

The awards, now in their sixth year, will take place November 6 at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York.
