Duran Duran Loses a Member

Eighties new wave band Duran Duran is undergoing yet another lineup change as guitarist Andy Taylor has left the group.

The band came together in the late seventies and consisted of lead vocalist Simon Le Bon, keyboardist Nick Rhodes, bassist John Taylor, drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Andy Taylor.

Throughout the eighties, the band released hit after hit with tunes like "Hungry Like A Wolf," "Rio" and "Is There Something I Should Know?" They also launched the MTV generation with elaborate music videos showcasing the boys' good looks and launching them into superstardom.

Though they never officially broke up, the band underwent several lineup changes over the years, but in 2001 the original hit-making lineup reunited for the 2004 record Astronaut. According to a message on the band's official website on October 25, "The past five years have been an incredible journey for us all - and having the original five back together was something that we had wanted to see happen for some time. As of last weekend, however, the four of us have dissolved our partnership and will be continuing as Duran Duran without Andy, as we have reached a point in our relationship with him where there is an unworkable gulf between us and we can no longer effectively function together. "

According to Reuters, Dom Brown will fill in for Taylor until the end of their current tour.
