Dick Clark Auctions off Rock'n' Roll Memorabilia

Published: 2006-10-27
Former American Bandstand Host and famed TV personality Dick Clark is auctioning off hundreds of items from his own personal collection of music memorabilia.

There will be over 900 items available for music collectors, all gathered by Clark during the past 50 years of his career.

"Whenever anybody gave me a memento or I asked for one, I would treasure it. Now with the auction of my collection at hand, I'm really excited to have a chance to turn over something that has belonged to me, so that someone else can enjoy it," Clark said in a statement.

Part of the proceeds from buyers eager to get a piece of rock 'n' roll history will go to the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program, a Division of the TJ Martell Foundation.

Some of the items up for auction are Clark's microphone from American Bandstand as well as a bass guitar played by Paul McCartney during his time with the Beatles.

The auction, put on by Guernsey's, will take place on December 5-6 at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.
