Rick Springfield Raises Money for 12-Year-Old Fifghting Cancer

Published: 2006-10-23
Rick Springfield, the pop/rocker who emerged in the 1970's and churned out the classic "Jesse's Girl" has got a new girl to sing about.

This girl is 12-year-old Sahara Aldridge and she is fighting stage four malignant glioblastoma in her brainstem. Springfield, who is a friend of the Aldridge family, is planning a benefit concert in the girl's hometown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

The pop star has been sharing Sahara's story through his website.

"I have known 'Little Miss S' (as I call her) since she was 5 and she is a bright spark in this weary world and this planet NEEDS her," Springfield writes.

"She is precious and most worthy of your love and care."

The concert will take place at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau on December 8. Besides seeing Springfield perform, fans can buy VIP tickets for a pre-party with photo and autograph opportunities.

Tickets go on sale October 27 and are $35 and $25 U.S.

What a generous performer Rick Springfield is - I knew I loved him and his music for a great reason! How inspiring and hopefully the concert, the will and love everyone has for this little girl will bring her healing and hope. What a cool benefit. P.S. Just saw Rick in concert and he is better than ever, great new music too!

He did a awsome show here in Cape Girardeau for Sahara and he is the most down to earth person I have ever met in my life.
