Published: 2004-03-24
Much pomp, circumstance, and, of course, music surrounds the televised Juno Awards. But there is more the television audience never sees. On Saturday night April 3, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) will hold the 2004 Juno Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony. A tribute, a Hall of Fame induction, and 28 Juno Awards will be presented at the Gala. CARAS has announced that Ed Robertson and Steven Page from the Barenaked Ladies will host the Gala. The Ladies will be performing at the televised award ceremony. The band has also been nominated for two Juno Awards. Scheduled to perform at the Gala are Juno nominees Buck 65, Shaye, and Don Walker.

While portions of the event will be aired on the televised show, the induction of producer and musician Bob Ezrin into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame will be a part of the Gala on Saturday night. The same will go for a tribute to the pioneer of the Canadian music industry Walt Grealis.

The 2004 Juno Awards is hosted by Alanis Morissette and airs on CTV Sunday April 4 at 8pm (9pm Atlantic time).
