Beck's New Album Banned From UK Chart

Published: 2006-10-06
Beck's latest release The Information, which came out Oct.3, has been declared ineligible for the UK album chart.

According to Billboard, the UK's Official Chart Company made the decision because of the album's packaging.

The Information comes with four sheets of stickers so fans can design their own cover. The UK Chart Company claims that this additional packaging gives Beck's album an unfair advantage in the chart race.

"It's an unconventional package, but it shouldn't be penalized for that," Beck told Billboard. "Any art on a CD is an incentive to buy and listen. Ultimately, it doesn't matter. The response from the fans has been so strong, and that is the most important thing."
