Snow Patrol, Franz Ferdinand and more Make Music for Kids

It began when Mick Cooke of Scottish band Belle and Sebastian woke up with a song about monkeys breaking out of the zoo and it has become a star-studded collection of songs for children.

Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, the Kooks and the Flaming Lips are just some of the big names featured on an upcoming charity album for kids.

Curated by Belle and Sebastian, Colours Are Brighter is a collection of children's songs with all proceeds going to Save the Children, an organization that helps children in need around the world.

Most of songs on the album are new tracks written for the project but some covers made into the mix, like Snow Patrol's "I am an Astronaut" and Divine Comedy's "Three Cheers For Pooh, Cottleston Pie, Piglet Ho."

Funds from the album will go specifically to the Save the Children's Rewrite the Future campaign, which focuses on education for children in areas of conflict and war.

Colours Are Brighter will be released on Oct. 16 through Rough Trade Records.
